Đỗ Thị Mai, nice to meet you

this first post is without a picture for the simple fact it would’ve been pretty hard to make her understand i wanted to take a picture of her to post it on a blog..

Do Thi Mai, born in 1949 in Phu Yen. British passport, no real English language..

She was sitting next to me on the plane, so she talked to me quite a lot, considering the time i was awake and she made me fill her visa application up (that’s why i know her particulars) . Yes, she’s Vietnamese, but holding a British passport she had to apply for a visa. She left Vietnam cause of the war (so she was young at the time) even thou with her poor English she told me “I old when go Biga (Birmingham), cant learn Ighich (Engish)“.. with her accent it was much more difficult to understand, it took me 2 or 3 “sorry i did not understand could you please repeat?” to get the message.

anyway, we had nice talks about how to fill a visa application (i actually filled it up for her), why she did not learn English that well, how she liked the famous city of Biga, the menu offered by Qatar Airways and about and her son who i still don’t understand what job is doing there, in Biga but i hope he’s doing it well..
